(2008) and M.Sc. (2010) full marks with honors in Civil Engineering at Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria. 2nd level University Master degree at University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a thesis on “Evaluation of the seismic economic losses of precast concrete industrial buildings” in 2012. Ph.D. in Structural Engineering at the University of Naples “Federico II” with a thesis on “Aerodynamics and aeroelastic behavior of ice-accreted bridge cables” in 2014. Adjunct Professor of a course on RC structures at Second University of Napoli for the period 2014-2015. Post-Doc position at University of Rome “La Sapienza” for “Regional seismic risk of industrial facilities including uncertainties and economic implications” for the period 2015-2016. Member of Task 2.1 of the project ReLUIS 2014–2018 on “Evaluation of the earthquake capacity of precast concrete structures and methods for the rehabilitation”. Post-Doc of the College of Civil Engineering at the Nanjing Tech University for a project named “Structural and non-structural elements subjected to extreme loads” for the period 2016-2018. Member of the project HOTSPOT (Climate hotspots: atmospheric observations and technological development) of the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate of the Italian Research Council. Organizer and teacher of the International course in OpenSees between China and Italy with the Euro-Asian OpenSees Association. Member of the European Association for Structural Dynamics (EASD), International Association for Wind Engineering (IAWE), Italian Association of Wind Engineering (ANIV), Euro Asian OpenSees Association (EOS). Awarded by the ANIV (Italian Association of Wind Engineering) for the best paper in wind engineering in 2016. In 2018, he obtained the Italian habilitation for Associate Professor in 08/B3 (Structural Engineering). Dr. Demartino is the author of more than 65 publications in international journals (30) and conferences (36) mainly on the topics of Structural Engineering, Wind Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, and Structural Dynamics. He is currently serving as an active reviewer of many international journals, including Journal of Mechanical Engineering, ASCE - Journal of Bridge Engineering, Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, ASCE - Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, Proceedings of the Royal society A: Mathematical, physical and engineering sciences, Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, Journal of Fluids and Structures, Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Construction and Building Materials. Dr. Demartino has given over 10 invited lectures. Dr. Demartino is particularly interested in structural engineering with a multidisciplinary approach having wide research interest in structural engineering, with an emphasis on investigating dynamic behaviors of structures under natural and man-made loading, such as earthquake, wind, impact, etc. He used both numerical and experimental approaches to understand the response of structures under different loading conditions and to determine the structural behavior. The main idea of Dr. Demartino is that the solution to advanced problems of engineering will involve a multi-disciplinary approach and cooperation across disciplines is fundamental.
